I totally and blatantly disagree. It is such a deep fighting game that I feel that its' steep learning curve makes it appear shallow. You have so many options in this game. Ya, sure it may not be the kind of deep traditional fighters are in a way where you have to memorize strings and strings of buttons in order to pull off the best combos, but this doesn't necessarily mean it isn't deep. If one goes throught the tutorials one will learn that the fighting mechanics are in deed very very deep if you take the time to learn them and realize this isn't a traditional fighter.
There are so many subtleties and options you have in fight , that I am really bothered by the fact that this game's fighting system is considered shallow especially when you take into consideration the range of movement you have compared to a traditional fighter like tekken or street fighter. It's just as deep, ujust in a different way. In order to make a fighter that shows off what a dbz character can do, certain elements are a necessity.
The online is great, there are good game modes, and most importantly, the customization of characters' moves before a fight is great. Two ss1 gokus can fight each other and be totally different. The onle real negative I have to say is the story mode is kind of weak in that there are no cut scenes or anything, but they do offer quite a bit of variety in the types of fights you must do.
Underrated game that I know will continue to be underrated. All in all, if you give it a chance, I fully believe you will be happy you took the time to try it out. I haven't met one person who played the game and didn't like it. Ok, so this gmae gets a lot of hate while the budokai tenkaichi series get praised to high heaven. I havn't played any of the BT games but I Ok, so this gmae gets a lot of hate while the budokai tenkaichi series get praised to high heaven.
I havn't played any of the BT games but I know for a fact that Raging blast 2 does not deserve all the hate. The game has a good vareity of characters to pick from and all of them play a little differently, with unqiue signiture moves and supers. The lack of story mode doesn't really bother me because it'll basically be the same story we've had in every other DBZ game. Over all, the game is good and meant to be played in small doses. The fighting system is good, the characters look good and the gameplay modes are good.
Nothing is spectacular but the game is still fun to play. While in Raging Soul mode, Super or Ultimate Attacks cannot be used unless a special item is equipped.
Raging Soul also gives incredible boost of strength and defense to the character. A purple aura surrounds the character, the sky turns a fair bit darker and more clouds gather. Other notable changes are the game's theme "Battle of Omega" playing during the length of Raging Soul; however, the player can change what music plays during the mode after getting the wish for it by Shenron and changing it in the options.
Also new to the franchise, is the "Armor Break" where you can destroy your opponents' clothes and armor using with Ultimate Blast. The timer of Raging Soul decreases over time, but will decrease faster if ki or charged Ki Blasts are sent at the opponent. Raging Soul also allows the player to dash infinitely without depleting the timer.
Higher AI will always use the combo against players. It works like the story in Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2 and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 , that you pick a character and play his or her respective story, with what-if battles as well.
At the end of each story there is a boss fight, which makes a powerful enemy, like Ultimate Gohan vs Super Buu Gotenks absorbed where Gohan starts with 1 HP. As strange as it sounds, this is the only modern Dragon Ball game which does not have a proper story mode.
Also, various amount of titles can be unlocked depending on the character used. Enhanced Characters will have a much higher power level, due to their items. Enhanced characters cannot have their costume changed, items will be bound on the character, and moves will be default. Characters will have much power depending on their current Power Level and the items they already have. For example: Cell will have a power of depending on his transformation , Ultimate Gohan will have 38, Cell Jr.
These include signature Pursuit Attacks which enable players to initiate attack combo strings, juggling your opponent in a string of Dragon Ball Z fans can rest assured that the destructible environment, and character trademark attacks and transformations will be true to the series.
These include signature Pursuit Attacks which enable players to initiate attack combo strings, juggling your opponent in a string of devastating strikes throughout the environment. Additionally, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 will sport the new Raging Soul System which enables characters to reach a special state, increasing their combat abilities to the ultimate level. Sporting more than 90 characters, 20 of which are brand new to the Raging Blast series, new modes, and additional environmental effects, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 is the next evolution in the home console series.

A beautiful game, super fast, comprehensive and very technical. One of the really best DBZ fighting games. All this publication's reviews Read full review. Playstation Official Magazine UK. There is so much content on the disc that it is hard not to recommend the game to DBZ fans.
